Students Explore Future Careers Through Virtual Reality During Career Development Month
As part of our Career Development Month activities, students had the exciting opportunity to use virtual reality (VR) headsets to explore a wide range of career pathways. This immersive experience allowed students to step directly into real-world environments—from performing medical procedures to operating heavy machinery.
Using VR technology, students were able to:
Experience day-in-the-life scenarios across dozens of professions
Better understand the skills, responsibilities, and environments associated with each career
Discover new interests and possibilities they may not have considered before
Engage with learning in a hands-on, interactive way
The VR sessions were part of our ongoing commitment to helping students develop career awareness and confidence in their future goals. By combining cutting-edge technology with career exploration, we aim to make learning both meaningful and exciting. Students walked away inspired, curious, and more informed about the many opportunities available to them after graduation. We look forward to continuing to bring innovative tools, such as VR, into our career development programming.

Former Student Returns to Inspire the Next Generation
During Career Development Month, CMS had the privilege of welcoming back alumnus Hunter Joyner, who returned to speak with our students about his career as a firefighter with Virginia Beach Fire Department and the path that led him there.
Students were engaged throughout the presentation, asking thoughtful questions and gaining a firsthand look at the many possibilities that await them after graduation. They also had the opportunity for donning the turn out gear, giving them experience. Moments like these remind our community of the powerful impact of mentorship and the value of staying connected with our alumni.
We extend our gratitude to Hunter for returning to inspire future leaders and showing our students what is possible when they believe in their potential.

Camden Middle School recently had the distinct pleasure of hosting Brookie B's Lemonade, a truly inspiring young individual who embodies the spirit of entrepreneurship, creativity, and community engagement, during Career Development Month.
Brookie, an accomplished entrepreneur, PBS Kids actor, motivational speaker, and author, brought dynamic energy and engaging stories to us from Sheep Harney Elementary School, where they are currently excelling in the 5th grade.

We were recently made aware of a potential threat against schools with a Camden reference. We have been in communication with the Camden County Sheriff's Department, and at this time, we have no evidence that it is a credible threat, or even a reference to Camden County Schools in North Carolina.
The safety of our students and staff is a priority of Camden County Schools. We are thankful for students and families who support our school system and inform us when they see or hear anything that could potentially impact schools. We encourage you to continue to be vigilant and to communicate any concerns.
