open utility trailer repair

Great things are happening in the high school Carpentry class as students dive into hands-on projects that serve both their skills and the community. This semester, the workshop has transformed into a hub of mechanical and structural engineering, with two major initiatives currently underway.

Trailer Restoration in Progress

The students have taken on the challenge of rewiring and rebuilding an open utility trailer. This project provides a deep dive into:

  • Electrical Systems: Learning the intricacies of automotive wiring and lighting.

  • Structural Repair: Assessing and rebuilding the frame and deck to ensure roadworthiness.

  • Problem Solving: Troubleshooting older equipment to bring it back to peak condition.

Constructing for the CTE Agriculture Department

In addition to the trailer restoration, the class has broken ground on a brand-new storage shed. Once completed, this structure will be housed at Camden Middle School to support the CTE Agriculture Department.

This partnership highlights the collaborative spirit of the Camden County Schools Career & Technical Education Program, allowing high school students to apply their framing and construction knowledge to create functional spaces for younger students entering the ag-science field.

These projects aren't just about building things—they're about building the next generation of skilled tradespeople.
